Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 4 cups diced honeydew melon

Instructions

  • Make simple syrup: Stir together water and sugar in a small pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and allow to bubble until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Place chopped honeydew in blender or food processor and process until smooth. Add about ¼ cup of the simple syrup and blend together. Depending on how sweet your honeydew is, you may want to add more or less of the syrup -- sweeten to taste.
  • Pour the honeydew mixture into a glass baking dish or container and place in freezer. After 30 minutes, stir with a fork to break up any ice crystals. Continue to do this every 30 minutes for the next 3-4 hours or until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Scoop icy crystals into a glass and enjoy!

Notes

Variations
  • Change up the fruit! You can combine honeydew melon with other fruits to create unique flavor combinations. Consider adding fresh strawberries, pineapple chunks..
  • Switch up the sweetener. Use agave syrup, maple syrup, or stevia or honey in place of simple syrup. The amount needed will vary depending on the sweetness of the honeydew and your preferences.
  • Enhance the flavor of your honeydew slush by adding a touch of citrus zest. Try grating a bit of lime, lemon, or orange zest into the blender for a refreshing citrusy kick.
  • Fresh mint leaves, basil, or a pinch of ginger can all complement the honeydew flavor. Add them to the blender along with the other ingredients.
