Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 4 tablespoons butter softened
  • ½ cup + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract*
  • 8 Oreo cookies crushed

For Decorating:

  • Holiday M&M's or colorful candies, nonpareils or sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a small bowl with plastic wrap. You'll need enough to hang over the edges so that you can completely cover the cream cheese mixture.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer {or using a hand mixer}, cream together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and combined.
  • Add the powdered sugar and mix until fully incorporated. Beat in the peppermint extract. Gently Fold in the crushed Oreos until just mixed in.
  • Scoop the mixture into the plastic wrap-lined bowl. Gather the excess plastic wrap and purse it into a ball, twisting the top. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until firm.
  • When the mixture is chilled and firm, remove from the refrigerator. Take the cheese ball out of the bowl and, with the plastic wrap still on, shape it into a ball. Unwrap and place onto a small serving plate.
  • Using your M&M's or sprinkles, press the decor onto the outside of the cheese ball in whatever pattern or design you desire.
  • Top with an ornament cap for the full effect, or use a gold wrapped peanut butter cup or gold-wrapped chocolate caramel candy. Serve with graham crackers or pretzel crisps!

Notes

*If you don't enjoy the taste of peppermint, substitute vanilla extract or omit!
