Disclosure: I have an ongoing partnership with Stonyfield Organic as a member of their Clean Plate Club and received this product for review. As always, the opinions here are all my own!
Raising kind, empathetic children who are also empowered to stand up for themselves when they need to. Choosing meaningful, engaging activities to experience with your family. Making an effort to understand and value those with different beliefs than your own while holding strong to your personal convictions. Paying attention to your impact on the environment. Feeding your family nutritious meals.
Perhaps I'm making it too complicated {I do realize that being a productive member of society is nothing new}, but it's a lot to think about daily!
That's why I have such an appreciation for brands who, like me, take these things into consideration in the way they do business. Because, when the brands you buy make good decisions about the things that matter, it's almost like you get to take one more thing off your plate.
Just about everyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of Stonyfield Organic. {You know it's a "thing" when your friends tell you they bought "your yogurt."} My relationship with Stonyfield {yes, we're involved. haha} started as a consumer when I discovered their delicious products. We got more "serious" when I joined their blogger program, Clean Plate Club, several years ago. Last summer, we "took the next step" by getting personal {I met their co-founder, farmers and cows in Vermont, which is basically like "meeting the parents"}. This year we "made it official" and I am proud to say that I am not only a brand ambassador, but I'm also managing a team of Stonyfield-loving food bloggers who create all kinds of wonderful things with their products. Stonyfield + Dianna 4Ever.
Part of the reason why I have become such a big advocate of Stonyfield is because of their commitment to bettering the world around them. From organic farming practices to how they treat their employees to their community outreach and environmental responsibility, they are choosing to learn more and do better with each passing year. Because of this, Stonyfield is now officially one of the 1,600+ companies who have a B Corp certification.
You might be asking, what's a B Corp? {I know I did.} Simply put, "B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency." In short, they're the do-gooders of the business world.
Brands like King Arthur Flour, Preserve Products, Purely Elizabeth, Pukka, Method and Pete & Gerry's are all part of the B Corp club, too, which means that my pantry and cabinets are already filled with all kinds of socially responsible goodies.
To me, it is amazing when a company realizes that the "bottom line" isn't the "top priority." Yes, business is about making money, and there's nothing wrong with that. But it's so refreshing to see that more and more companies are using their power and pull to influence and impact the world in positive ways.
When I support the brands that, in turn, support the things I hold dear, I feel like in a tiny way I'm helping to make the world a better place, too. And that's a responsibility I take very seriously. <3
. . . . . . . . . .
To celebrate Stonyfield's B Corp status, they sent a box of goodies to the members of the Clean Plate Club filled with a bunch of products made by other B Corp buddies!
I couldn't help myself from using a few of them in a snack I make for my son just about every week: Chia Pudding. I don't know what it is about this weird, wiggly-jiggly snack, but he absolutely loves it -- and I can't say that about too many things these days, now that he's going through the "picky toddler" stage!
Admittedly, I was dubious about these interesting little seeds the first few times I encountered them, but I soon found that I actually enjoyed the slippery texture of gelled chia seeds and had a ton of fun getting creative with different recipes. Chia has all kinds of nutritious properties {omega-3s, fiber, and lots of protein}, so it is a great snack for kids and adults alike. It's also very easy to prepare and only takes a few hours to set, which makes it perfect to whip up on a Sunday evening and have as a ready-made for the week.
This version of chia pudding is full of flavor. I infused some almond milk with Pukka's Three Ginger tea, then added cinnamon and honey for a hint of sweetness and warm spicy notes. The coconut milk makes the texture silky and decadent and a dollop of Stonyfield Whole Milk Greek yogurt gives extra richness and a pleasant tartness. I topped it off with fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of Purely Elizabeth's Blueberry Hemp Ancient Grain Granola for some crunch.
Try this chia pudding next time you're looking for a satisfying snack! You can't go wrong with a taste-good, feel-good, DO-GOOD treat!
