    Stuff & Links, Part 2

    Published: Apr 24, 2013 · Modified: May 25, 2021 by thekitchenprep · This post may contain affiliate links ·

    Well, here we are again! My last "Stuff & Links" post helped me feel so much better about all the things I had floating around in my head that I decided to make a Part 2. Hope you don't mind. 😉

    Stuff
    1. You guys, I'm in a brunchy state of mind. I'm working with a group of bloggers on a week-long {May 5-11}  post-a-thon of brunch recipes, just in time for Mother's Day. I have so.many.ideas that I can't commit to the recipes I want to share!

    Wanna know what else is cool about Brunch Week? Prizes. Really cool ones. From awesome sponsors like Stonyfield Yogurt, Lodge Cast Iron, Bob's Red Mill, California Walnuts and a whole slew of others. That's all I'm telling you for now. But keep your eyes & ears open because you don't want to miss it.

    Keep up to date on Twitter by following the hashtag #BrunchWeek.

    2.  I got to go to a local blogging workshop last night and meet other writers & bloggers. I totally felt like the Christmastime M&M's commercial where they run into Santa as he's leaving gifts under the tree: THEY DO EXIST!

    See the "Links" section for their blog info.

    3. My TKP Facebook page has officially reached the 1,700 mark. Now Twitter & Instagram need to catch the heck up. {Hint, hint.}

    These are all the places you can find me! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, RSS Feed, Google +

    4. Talenti Gelato finally revealed their new flavors:

    Argentine Caramel, Alphonso Mango Sorbet, Southern Butter Pecan, and German Chocolate Cake. Drool.

    {P.S. Just in case you're wondering they don't pay me to talk about them. I just love them so.}

    5. Speaking of paying me, and in light of all this educational/informational blog stuff I've been to lately, I have learned that I need to be more clear about my goals and objectives.

    I'm a writer. I happen to thoroughly enjoy writing about food. {But will write about just about anything, really.} So, here's my pitch:

    Please disregard my failure to use proper punctuation, gross overuse of words like "yum", and lack of organizational structure here on on the blog. This is my playground. I promise I can write like an adult and not an over-excited teeny bopper when I try. 🙂

    6. I am always on a budget. I have not truly gone clothes shopping in years. I let myself buy a few things to update the closet a few weeks ago and I am currently on a downward spiral. Here are some of the things I've bought:

    Left to right: 1. Black skinny jeans from H&M, 2. Black & white striped top from Old Navy, 3. "Superhero" Blue Skinny Jeans from Old Navy, 3. Mint & Gold Necklace from Forever 21, 4. Pink Stone Bib Necklace from Forever 21, 5. Yellow Bubble Necklace from Charming Charlie, 6. Example of peplum top I purchased at H&M.

    Also, I apparently only buy things that there are no pictures of online. Not pictured: An adorable white eyelet peplum top {the mint one shown above is the closest I could find to what it looks like} and a dainty little yellow lace shift dress from H&M, a pair of tan faux-leather wedges from Old Navy, and a cute set of gold & pearl bangles from Forever 21. Whew! Ok... locking up the wallet. 😉

    7. Food Blog Forum Orlando {Disney} Countdown: 23 days. WOOT!

    8. So, I made this cake over the weekend.

    Barely holding together after I stuck it in the freezer.

    It was for my mother-in-law's birthday. When I assembled it on Saturday morning, everything went terribly awry. The coconut custard filling was too slippery and oozed out the sides. My cream cheese frosting was too loose and wouldn't hold the layers together {let alone stick to the cake}. So I had a meltdown  used every curse word I know did the next logical thing that came to mind: I frosted it in the freezer and covered the outside with toasted coconut to hide the evidence of decorating failure. And this was the final result:

    Miracles do happen.

    7. I made these for a friend last week and had a bit left over to nibble on. Quite possibly one of the best things I've made as of late. Still swooning.
