One of my favorite types of summer recipes to have in my back pocket for everything from backyard barbecues to hot weather holidays is a simple dip that comes together in minutes.

My Whipped Feta Dip is a simple appetizer that will be on repeat all summer long! Salty feta cheese is blended with Greek yogurt, garlic and lemon juice to form a creamy spread that can be used for dipping or slathering. Topped with a drizzle of honey and pistachios, you'll feel like you're summering in the Mediterranean with each bite!

    • Whipped Feta Dip

    Ingredients

    • Cream cheese
    • Plain Greek yogurt
    • Feta cheese. You can use feta that comes in a block or crumbled feta.
    • Garlic
    • Lemon juice. Fresh is always best when possible.
    • Honey. While it may seem strange to add honey to a savory dip, it truly makes the flavor pop! Don't skip it.

    Instructions

This dip really can't get much easier to make!

The ingredients for Whipped Feta Dip in the bowl of a food processor.

Place the cream cheese, Greek yogurt, garlic, feta cheese and lemon juice in the bowl of a food processor.

Process until the mixture is smooth.

Whipped Feta Dip after being processed in the food processor.

Scoop the Whipped Feta Dip into an airtight container and refrigerate until chilled. This will allow the flavors to marry.

If you're going to serve it right away, scoop the mixture into a serving bowl. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios and a drizzle of honey.

    Serve immediately with pita chips!

Tip: The honey sinks down into the dip as it sits, so it's best to wait until just before serving to drizzle with honey.

    FAQ's

Can Whipped Feta Dip be made ahead?

Absolutely! In fact, chilling it for at least a few hours before serving allows the flavors to marry, so I recommend doing so if you have time. Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

What do you serve with whipped feta?

Whipped feta goes great with raw vegetables, pita chips, or toasted bread, and can also be used to drizzle on salads or serve with gyros, burgers and wraps!

    What is feta cheese?

Feta cheese is a Greek cheese that is traditionally made with sheep's milk, but is often made with cow's milk in the U.S. It is salty, soft and crumbly, and sometimes comes preserved in a brine.

    Variations & Substitutions

Looking for other ways to enjoy this Whipped Feta Dip? Try these variations!

    • Spice things up by blending some red pepper flakes into the dip for a hint of heat.
    • Add herbaceous flavor by folding in some chopped herbs such as basil or parsley.
    • Make it lemony by adding some grated lemon zest to the mix.
    • Amp up the color and flavor by blending in a few pieces of jarred roasted red pepper for a new version.
    • Keep things purely savory by drizzling with good quality olive oil and swapping the pistachios for pine nuts.

    Diet-Specific Substitutions

This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegetarian.

    • Vegan or Dairy-Free: I personally have not tried making this with plant-based products, but in theory, it should work! Just sub out the regular cream cheese and feta for plant-based versions, and use date syrup instead of honey. The flavor may be a bit different depending on which products you use.
