Growing up, my mom was somewhat of a hot chocolate aficionado, and we always had an array of gourmet hot chocolate options to sip on during the holiday season. {Thank you, Costco, for your variety packs!}
In our home, I'm the only one who appreciates the sweet, chocolaty stuff because, as I've mentioned before, my husband doesn't care for chocolate. {I know, I still can't believe it, either.}
This Apple Pie Hot Chocolate, however, is a warm drink I don't know if he'll be able to turn down! Sweet and creamy, with undertones of white chocolate and apple pie spices, it's sure to become beloved by all.

Ingredients
For Apple Cider Syrup
- Apple cider
- Ground allspice
- Ground nutmeg
- Cinnamon
For White Hot Chocolate
- Milk
- White chocolate chips
Instructions
This Apple Pie White Hot Chocolate was the result of my non-chocolate beverage brainstorm!
To make the syrup: Bring apple cider and spices to a boil over medium-high heat in a small saucepan. Allow it to simmer until it reduces to about ¼ cup and becomes syrupy, which takes about 4-5 minutes.
Blend the white chocolate chips with the spiced apple cider syrup and milk of your choice (I used oat milk and it was pure perfection), to create a white hot chocolate unlike any you've had before!
Using a high speed blender that heats up (like a Vitamix) takes care of melting the chips, but if you don't have one, you can simply heat it on the stovetop or in the microwave.
Recipe FAQs
White Hot Chocolate typically consists of white chocolate chips and milk. This version also uses a homemade spiced apple cider syrup to give it the "apple pie" flavor.
Yes! If you don't have a high speed blender that will melt the chips, you can whisk everything in a saucepan over medium-high heat. It won't be as frothy, but you can use a frother if desired.
Variations & Substitutions
Try these variations!
- Try a white chocolate raspberry or cherry pie version by swapping out the apple cider syrup of a few tablespoons of seedless raspberry or cherry preserves.
- Top your apple pie white hot chocolate with a dollop of cinnamon-spiced whipped cream!
Diet-Specific Substitutions
- Vegan: Use a plant-based milk instead of regular. Oat milk is actually my favorite for this particular recipe!
